Easter with the Wells

This Easter we invited Sarah, David, and our little nephew Jacob to come down for the weekend. It was such a fun Easter! I'm so glad it worked out that they all could come. Jacob is at such a cute age (turning 2 next month). He was soooo excited to explore everything outside. We threw rocks and sticks in the channel, said hi to the horses and doggies, rode the ATVs, went shooting where he "shot" his first gun, a .22 rifle, and then found his own stick gun and made shooting sounds with it. We colored eggs and ate lots of yummy food too. He kept us on the run so much that we broke down and had to watch Cars one afternoon :) We went to church for Easter with the handsome little guy and of course the Easter bunny came to our house too. We gave him his bday present early- a nerf soccer ball, a stuffed animal beaver, and sidewalk chalk. He LOVED the sidewalk chalk and played with that for quite awhile too. He also was fascinated by our fish and had to periodically get on the counter and check them out.

Travis was on call the whole weekend and ended up working Sunday night for 12 hours, but besides that he was around most of the time and we all had a great time hanging out. Once Jacob was in bed we all chatted the night away and relaxed. It was so nice spending time with everyone. Hopefully we can make this a new tradition and have family come down from Provo every Easter. :)

Vegas Babyshower

For the first time since we moved, Travis and I headed down to Vegas, specifically for my baby shower with his family and some good friends. Linda, Kristin and Mindy put on a wonderful shower with such cute decorations and tons of delicious food. It was soooo good to see the family and our friends! The gifts were wonderful as well and just sooo cute! Definitely made me more excited for our little Dallen to get here. We spent an hour or so chit chatting and eating and then played a couple cute games. It couldn't have been more perfect. :) Travis got to go shooting with his Dad, Eddie, and Nick during the shower. He got a taste of the Vegas heat a little more so than I did; it was in the 90's.



While we were there Travis and I of course ran a ton of errands, which I'm kind of getting sick of doing every time we go out of town. But I did get a really nice hair cut and color from my stylist and Lily got groomed by our neighbor Jill as well. We also got to go out to eat at a couple of our favorite restaurants; ok well at Travis' favorite, Cook on Wok, and one I really like, Claim Jumper. We had dinner with Travis' family at Cook on Wok and the normal delicious Sunday dinner as well at Travis' parents house. We went to Claim Jumper with a group of our old friends and ended up sticking around chatting for about 3 hours! It was so fun catching up and joking around with everyone. The trip went by way too fast. Can't wait to see everyone again soon!

Uncle off to War

This month my Uncle Thom Kenney headed off to war in Afghanistan. He is my mom's sister's (Carrie Lou's) husband. This past Christmas their family of 4 drove out from Boston to spend the holidays with our side of the family. Little did we know that Thom was going to be spending the majority of the next year in the middle of a war. He knew that it was highly probable that he was going to be deployed this year sometime, so he made it a point to visit all of his family. I was very touched when I found out. (It was so good to see them, especially since I've become a little closer to Carrie Lou over the last couple years or so. I've always felt like she's more my older sister than my aunt-she's only 7 years older than me). Thom is the closest relative I have that has gone off to war. I respect him very much for choosing to serve our country. He will be a great asset to improving the situation over there. I just had to post a little about him since it's really made an impression on me over the last few months.

My Brush is Burnin'

I couldn't help but post this funny picture. This is taken from my back door, zoomed in a little of course. Travis is out there helping the neighbor burn some brush to make way for the channel water to come through. Lily had to get in on the action too. Trav just couldn't resist a little "controlled" burn action. :) Totally small town-ish!

Lehman Cave

After so much shopping for our new place and new baby, I was so ready to go do something outdoorsy and fun. I wanted to go to Moab since we live so much closer now, but realized there really isn't much a little pregnant lady can do there. So Travis remembered that there are these really cool caves at Great Basin National Park which is only 2 hours from our house on the Utah/Nevada border. So we made a day trip out of it and went to Lehman Caves. It was a 90 minute guided tour with stairs and barely any crouching. It's also strategically lit to show off the formations. I've been to about 5 different caves over the years but I'd have to say that this one is definitely the largest with a wide variety of formations to check out. Both Travis and my favorite part of the cave was the area with pools of water beneath the stalactites. It was the perfect little adventure and was much needed.

We also went on a little hike before the tour. It was gorgeous outside!

Minersville Lake

We're taking advantage of the warmer spring weather as much as we can and so fishing was definitely on the list for the day. Travis got out to Minersville Lake before I did and caught a bunch of trout on his fly rod in his float tube. Lily went with him and did what she does best at the lake- went swimming! Once I got there and got all geared up and hiked around to my spot, the weather changed and the fish went into hiding. So even though I didn't catch anything this time, it was so nice to be outside at the lake.




Since we couldn't fish all day we decided to check out some dirt roads nearby. It was a pretty nice 4wheelin drive, meaning not too bumpy for the pregnant lady. We pulled out the .22 and tortured Lily for a few rounds- she HATES the sound of gun shots. And of course we got the truck stuck in the snow for a little while as well. It was a great day and I'm so looking forward to more nice spring weather!
