Sophia May Blasucci

Sophia is born! She was 7lbs 15oz, born at 6:10pm on May 5, 2009. She has brown eyes and dark hair and chubby cheeks. Jessica's water broke around 4am. They got to the hospital around 5am and gave her pitocin at 7am. She dealt with the contractions without an epidural until 11am. She started pushing around 4pm. Jessica (& Thomas) did great and she is doing well. Sophia came out, cried, but was having difficulty breathing properly. So she was taken to the NICU and has been there for almost 24hrs now. She has meconium in her lungs. She's hooked up to all sorts of tubes and wiring to make sure it all comes out. Jess was only able to hold Sophia for a second right after she was born. So everyone is anxiously awaiting for the meconium to pass and to be able to hold her. My dad took this pix between switching tubes. Isn't she so adorable!!

Twilight

So I am very slow at jumping on the popular reading trends, but I finally gave in and have started reading the Twilight series, and of course, I love them! Not because I'm in love with Edward, although his is almost too perfect the way EVERYTHING is about Bella, but because it's just such a great story! Where do people think up things like this? I'm a week and a half into the series and am almost 1/2 way through the 3rd book. You can guess what I literally did all weekend this last weekend? :) I think I read for 9hrs straight on Sunday. Yet again, just like with Harry Potter, Travis is not the biggest fan of Twilight because I spend sooo much time reading. Don't worry honey, just a few more days and I'll be done. It's a good distraction for me anyway while he's studying. :) Although, almost too distracting sometimes because I find myself thinking about the plot ALL THE TIME!~ will she become a vampire or not? What's going to happen to Jacob? How could Bella stay human and be with a vampire her whole life and not have sex! :) Now that would just suck! Ok, so don't tell me any details...these are just rhetorical questions.

Spring Break

So we actually had a Spring Break this year. Well, Travis had a spring break, and my week turned out to be more of a spring break then a job searching week as well. It started with Easter Sunday at our house. We had Travis' family including his parents, Kristin & Shawn & Brighton, Darren & Denise & kids, and Karen & Eddie. Travis made some elk, the same way he did for Christmas, like the Tucanos garlic sirlion- it was delicious! It was nice to finally have everyone over and show off our house to the fam :)

Tuesday was the BBQ get together for the Smith's. We originally planned it for the park so we could play vball, but it was sooo windy, that we ended up moving it to the Smith's house. They're basically all moved out, but there was enough furniture for most everyone and they had a BBQ so it worked out great there. It was so nice to catch up with old friends!

Wednesday Travis and I went to the temple and did some work for our family. It's always so nice to do our family's work. Even though we had all week to get to the temple, it still is a challenge to commit to it and get there in time, for whatever reason. There's always some reason to move it to a different day or whatever. So it was nice to get there this week.

Thursday was BUNCO night, and was my turn to host it. It was fun, as usual getting together with the ladies from the ward. It was a lot more work then I expected getting all the food together and getting ready for it, but it was fun and nice having everyone over. Right after BUNCO, I was headed out the door to meet up with Sarah & Cory, Amber, Lexi & Josh, & Savannah to go to a hypnotist show at Planet Holloywood. Sarah & Cory knew the Hypnotist, so they got us in for free. I was pretty skeptical about seeing hypnotists cause I think the people he tries to hyponotize are mostly faking it. But this time, Amber got up there and was in the whole show. She totally made the show! It was hilarious watching someone I knew be hypnotized, and yes, she convinced me that she could be hypnotized. She was toally acting out of the norm and really seemed like she was put under! She didn't do anything crazy or too dramatic like the other people up there. She ligitmately was just doing what the Hypotist said. I think the funniest parts were when they had her (and everyone else) act like a porn star and suck a lollypop shaped like a, well, you get the idea. The show was a bit off-color, but wasn't out of control, and when you're watching a friend do it, it just makes it all that much better! I hadn't laughed that hard in a long time. It was a great night!


Late that night, Travis took off to the river to go fishing. It's about 45min away to the Colorado River on the other side of Hoover Dam. He heard that the trout were being released from the hatchery and figured the stripers would be heading in. He was so excited about it that he took off at 3am to get down there for sunrise. He hung out all day Friday and I met up with him that afternoon. Unfortunately, no stripers! It was gorgeous down there though and Lily had a great time. She went swimming, chased ducks and bunnies and just had a good time running all over. She even swam out to Travis on his float tube! It was so cute!

The week ended with dinner at Cook on Wok and games at the Smith's. We hung out with them the Kessingers, Granthums, and the Smith's family and friends. It was a blast! Playing games with them is always so competitive and fun. Everyone is so sarcastic and jokes around with eachother. I'm going to miss the get togethers at their house! I always laugh the entire time.
Since I ended up planning Easter, the BBQ, and BUNCO, my week was filled with planning and playing. :) It was a great time and a great Spring Break!

Clark County Fair

I haven't been to a county fair in years! I think the last one I went to was when my family lived in florida, so almost 20years ago! So when we decided we weren't going anywhere for Spring Break, we decided to go check out the fair. Our friends have a racecar booth there, so we were able to get in for free. (Thanks Sarah!) We had fun checking out all the animals, pigs, lamb, sheep, cows, chicken, rabbits, geese, and goats. Travis' favorite were the roosters. He is basically obessed with their "cocka-doodle-doo". It makes him giggle. It's pretty funny. I wouldn't be surprised if we end up with chickens some day. I loved the rabbits-they were soooo cute! Anyway, we also stopped and talked to the guy at the southern utah booth for quite sometime about fishing, hunting, and camping, of course. :) At the end of the night we watched a Hypnotist show. It was pretty funny. I thought the guy was more a commedian there a real hypnotist, but Travis really thought the people were hypnotized. I totally thought Trav wouldn't have believed they were really hypnotized, but I guessed wrong. So the only pics I took were with my phone. I had to take one of me in these weird glasses for my brother; he is the king of weird glasses! And it was just a good representation of the randomness at the fair. We took a picture of this pig because it reminded us of Roxy, my in-laws' lab who usually sits on her butt and not on her feet. Anyway, we had a good time and would love to take our family there in the future.

Willow Beach, Hoover Dam Bridge, & Alan Jackson

Travis & I had to get out and enjoy the weather this weekend. So we headed over to the other side of Hoover Dam to Willow Beach which is located along the Colorado River. It is very peaceful there and actually quite gorgeous. We of course took Lily who still is an amazing little hiker. We also discovered that she's a pretty good swimmer too! She hopped right into the Colorado River (freezing!) to chase after a few ducks. It was very entertaining.

I also had Trav take a few pictures of how the bridge is coming along over the river/dam. It's crazy thinking people actually work on that thing! I wonder how many hours went into designing and figuring out how this bridge will actually hold us all up?!

In the evening, we went to the Alan Jackson concert, compliments of Travis' parents. He is a classic country singer. His lyrics in some of his songs are amazing! It was so nice to go out with my hubby and see some live music.
