First Big Beaver Snow

This past weekend we got our first big snow in Beaver. It snowed all day on Saturday and dumped about a foot. It was sooo pretty and peaceful and I realized how much I miss the snow. It's so much more enjoyable in a small town too because you don't have to drive in it all that much. Lily has gotten use to the snow as well, but still kept to the more shallow spots. She looks hilarious when she comes in after tromping around in it though. :) Travis lucky planned to go skiing with a buddy from Vegas this weekend and had fresh powder up at Eagle Mountain all day. Not so sure he's a big fan of shoveling, and for now, I've got a good excuse to get out of it. :) Still, we love it and love all the new experiences of living in Beaver. Yay!

Baby Update

So just a couple updates about our little boy. We decided on a first name: Dallen Hicks. :) We think it sounds good and really like it and feel like it's him! Still deciding on the middle name. We finally decided on a nursery set with the colors sky blue and a rich red. It's been surprising to me to have Travis be so involved in picking stuff out for our little guy (he found the nursery set and furniture). But it is nice that he wants to be a part of it all :)

I'm now in my 3rd trimester and can definitely feel my body changing even more and still can't get use to it. I think Heavenly Father knew that I couldn't be a young mother because of how active I was. Pregnancy has really made me slow down and rest a lot more. That just has never been my life style and I'm just still not use to being able to go 4wheeling or running or hiking or whatever I want. But it's all worth it-it's just different. :) It's so fun feeling him kick and roll around all the time and we're getting so excited to meet the little guy.

Also, the girls at work threw me a surprise good-bye baby shower lunch one day and I was completely surprised! I totally thought I was going to a client lunch with a co-worker and showed up all ready to chit chat to a table full of friends and co-workers. It was so nice and unexpected. I was so grateful for all their efforts in planning and how generous they were. It's so nice to have other people be so happy and excited for us as well. We can't wait!

Valentine's Get-Away/Provo Visit

The first weekend after moving up here, we headed up to Provo/SLC for Travis' ATLS class for work. It happened to be over Valentines Day so we enjoyed a hotel room for a couple nights and a nice break from the big move. We went window shopping and ate at Tucanos twice-it had been almost a year since we'd been to Tucanos! Crazy.

While Travis was in class I spent time with Sarah and her family and got together with 3 good friends-Lisa, Jocelyn, and Becca. It rarely works out that the 3 of us can arrange our schedules to spend a few hours together, but this weekend it just worked. We went to Babies R Us where they helped me pick things out for my registry and then out to lunch. It was so fun getting thier advice and catching up. I love that we're so much closer now! I also got to baby sit my nephew Jacob for a couple hours one afternoon and had fun with him and Lily going on a walk to the river. He's full of energy and gave me a glimpse of what life is going to be like for me being the mother of a little boy in a few months! Ah! So exciting yet overwhelming as well. :) It was a great weekend and am excited to be going back to visit again soon.

Exploring Beaver

So we have been able to get out a few times and explore the hills around Beaver. There is a ski resort 15 miles up the road from us-Eagle Mountain, and a nice lake to go fishing-Puffer Lake. (The picture above has Puffer lake in the background-frozen of course). We can ride our ATV right from our house and be on a designated ATV route which goes for miles and miles. We have deer in the pasture behind our house every night and sometimes they venture out into the empty lots across the street to feed as well. There are resident turkeys in the area, elk, and a few coyotes. Horses and cows roam the pasture as well so we get an occasional horse at our back fence as well. Everyone here seems to have dogs too so Lily has made quite a few friends. Our neighbor actually trains hunting dogs so he always has a bunch in his backyard. There's a shihtzu that roams the neighborhood in the evenings that Lily loves to play with as well. We're so looking forward to the spring and summer to explore even more and take our little Dallen out with us as well!

All Moved to Beaver

At the beginning of this month we finally got everything all moved up to Beaver. Travis finished training, I got the house rented out and got some closure on our life in Vegas. It was a tough month living apart trying to do so many things. So of course as soon as I got to Beaver I came down with a really bad head cold and was way sick! I seriously couldn't do anything for 5 days. I would unload a box or two and then have to take a nap. I went through a box of tissues every day since I couldn't take any medication being pregnant. But anyways, I finally got over it and was able to get all settled in by the end of the month.

The move went well with help from Travis' family,
friends in Vegas, and a couple people in Beaver. I do have to say that the big packing day was pretty crazy though- I had to meet with the real estate agent about selling our house, then run a couple errands, clean the house for the renter, finish packing, pick up the moving truck-which wasn't ready for us and we had to go to another location to get one, packed the truck, more cleaning and packing, met with the renters to do the walk through on the house, grabbed some dinner, had to meet with the co-signer of the renters at the hospital to get the rest of the papers signed and the key turned over and then finally ended up at Travis' parents house after midnight. It was so crazy. Travis' family helped drive our vehicles and the moving truck up and helped unpack for the day. But we made it with less complications then the first time.

So far we love it here and I'm really enjoying the winter weather and snow. It's so nice to slow down as well and not have to wake up to an alarm clock everyday either. I feel like it's perfect timing to be in a small town, being pregnant and needing to rest a lot more. Travis of course has loved having more free time this month to run, 4wheel, ski, and get things settled in as well. We're definitely happy to be here and be together. Yeah Beaver!
