Jessica!!!!! I'm so excited to have another niece or nephew! She's due Jan 14th and couldn't be happier to not have to try so hard this time. :) Baby #2 actually has come a little early. They weren't planning on having shim (she+him=shim) until a few months later into next year, but no complaints. It is a bummer that we won't see them for Christmas and that they'll probably be moving onto their next life adventure with Thomas starting his MBA probably in another state at the beginning of January, but they'll figure it out. Looks like I'll need to save up for a trip to Texas or New York or wherever he ends up going to grad school. :) Congratulations Blasucci's! Love you guys!

Let Summer Begin!
Thursday evening after work we took off with the Starleys out to Lake Mead. It's been getting pretty warm, into the low 90's, so figured we should take advantage of some free time in our schedules and enjoy. The weather was perfect for a boat ride, but really not hot enough to take a swim. So we fished instead. We didn't have much luck so Travis decided to slalom water ski. He looked great! Well, all except for the wet suit he squeezed into :) Gotta love purple and orange. ha! No, really, he did great and then later had a crazy looking belly slide face plant that amazingly didn't hurt. Good Times.
On our way back in, around 9pm Nick and Travis decided to take a small detour and try the fishing at this one spot a buddy Matt recommended. On Travis' 1st cast he caught the biggest bass ever! He was soooo excited! Seriously, I don't think I've seen him get that excited in a long time. He was like a little kid with free reign in a candy store or something. Here's the proof:
Then Nick tried his luck on the other rod and caught one as well. I had a bite, but didn't end up catching anything; it's kind of hard fishing off the back of a boat at night with another person casting right next to you. Travis caught a few more and we ended up taking home only the big ones for a yummy fish fry a couple nights later. Such fun stuff!! What a great way to kick off the summer :)
Cael is not a fan of the fish. It was the first time he's seen dead ones. He wasn't so sure about them. ha! :)
Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health
Ok, so I don't usually post about "work adventures", but I love architecture and thought these pictures are just too cool to not share. We sponsored the AIA (American Institute of Architects) tour of The Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, which is a Neurological Disease Research & Treatment Center. Mr. Larry Ruvo's father, Lou, was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease which motivated Larry to start the 'Keep Memory Alive' foundation. He then convinced and hired Frank Gehry, a famous architect, to design the building that would make Mr. Ruvo's foundation stand out and well known. A branch of the outstanding Cleveland Clinic (one of the top 4 hospitals in the country) now resides in the building and will be supported by the Keep Memory Alive foundation to continue research on Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Huntington's, Lou Gehring's Diseases. After knowing the story behind the building, it just makes it stand out that much more.

Celebrate!
May is a month to celebrate! I am a card person and I don't think I've bought so many cards at once for so many people and their different events! May is filled with the Blasucci birthdays and 2 others in my family as well, Audra & Jacob, and a good friend, Mindy's. Nick threw a BBQ for her which is always fun chit chatting with our good friends.
It's also Mother's Day which we didn't quite celebrate this year since both of our mothers were not around. We did go out with Linda once she got back from her trip to Oregon, so that was nice, as always.
Then there's graduation and with graduation means going-away get-togethers. We are so sad to see the Hebdons and Kessingers go! They both are headed off to their residencies in Illinois and Pennsylvania respectively. My brother Jordan is also graduating high school at the end of month and then he's off to UVU next fall! My siblings are just growing up WAY too fast.
There was also a couple of wonderful pregnancy announcements- Mindy and one other that I-can't-mention-yet-but-am-really-excited-for-her-anyway! Mindy is due beginning of December and the other the end of December. I'm soooo excited for the both of them!
Next comes 3 baby showers for 3 good friends in the ward, Michelle Gibson, Brooke Allen, and Laura Heffner. We took Michelle out to lunch at Cafe Rio, so yummy. Every one's kids came and they were just so fun to be around. 2 & 3 year olds are just a kick sometimes. :) Then Brooke's family threw her a couples BBQ baby shower at the park. We all goofed off playing some silly games and chatted for awhile too. It was a fun little get together. A couple days later, Susan Rawlins & I hosted Laura's shower which also turned out to be really nice as well with snacks and the baby food game and tons of cute gifts. :)
We also got 3 invitations to weddings all at once. We haven't seen many of those lately since we're in the 'baby making' stage of life now and not so much the wedding stage so it was a bit unusual. One of them was for Travis Draney, one of Travis' old buddies from a singles ward here in town. Travis went to his Bachelor party and was out on the town til 1am! I do have to say, I was starting to wonder around midnight. :P They were good boys though and Travis and Megan were sealed in the Vegas temple on a perfect spring day. Draney was pretty nervous the couple days we saw him before the wedding, but he was back to his fun happy-go-lucky self at the reception. We're so happy for them and hopefully we'll have another couple to go do fun stuff with in a couple months after they're settled in. :) The other 2 weddings are one of Travis' mission buddies and then my cousin Monica who will be getting married on the beach in Florida. That will definitely be it's own post in a few weeks!
Next comes vacations! Kym-me and her family came to town for Justin's college graduation vacation and I amazingly had an available evening one of the days they were here. :) We chilled in the hot tub and ate dinner at firefly and just had a great time catching up on everything. Chelsea came down for work and a mini vacation as well. As you can see, she's just about ready to deliver and was exhausted. But we had fun going to the park, dinner and hanging out by the hot tub at the South Point Hotel. It was sooo nice catching up and spending time with her and her family. Then I'm off to Florida for the wedding and Heeb family reunion on the beach and in Miami, while Travis takes off to Atlanta for the annual PA conference. I'm so bummed he can't come to Florida with us. It'll be so weird without him, but I'm so excited to see the entire extended family!

Hunger Games
I recently read the 1st 2 books in the Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins, Hunger Games & Catching Fire. I was hesitant to read the series at first because the story just did not sound appealing- lower class citizens over ruled by a tyranny whose kids (12-18 yr) are forced to fight to the death in the annual 'Hunger Games'. Who'd want to read that? sheez. Well, I kept hearing more and more people who liked it and my brother had read it and I love conversing with him (Joe) about books we've read, so I decided to see how it was. The beginning of the book is really interesting; the latter half was ok, but not my favorite, reading about the ways the different characters die. So I finished the 1st book wondering if I should even read the 2nd because I had such mixed feelings about the 1st one. Well I was convinced, by Joe of course, to read Catching Fire. That book is amazing! Totally makes up for the 1st one and totally left my on the edge of my seat for the last book, Mockingjay. If the 3rd book was out, I seriously would have went to the store and continued to read that night! I read the 2nd book in 2 days, that's how good it was. :) The 1st one took me a week, so still intriguing, just left me with mixed feelings, that's the best way I can describe it. I would highly recommend the series if you're interested in an action, suspenseful, and developing-love story type book. The movies for these books have some great potential, even more so than Twilight! Can't wait 'til August when Mockingjay finally comes out!

Mtn Biking-Bootleg Canyon
We finally made it back on our bikes! It's been way too long since we had the time on a weekend to go riding. During school, back when he was studying all the time, we didn't get the luxury of riding really at all. So this weekend and again on Monday we made the 20 minute drive to Bootleg Canyon, a pretty famous downhill course in Boulder City. They have some great cross country routes as well, which are the ones we stick to of course (you seriously have to be crazy and way in shape to do those downhill courses). I do have to say though that my nerves got the best of me in a few exposed and steep spots, but the next time we went up on Monday after work I was able to focus more on technique and got over a lot of the nervousness. :) They have 3 routes that give you great views of Lake Mead, so we did those, about a 5K ride round trip. We also enjoyed hearing and seeing the quail all over the place. It was a great work out and sooo nice to be outside!
